How many Cisco Data Center certifications

exist? I'm sure you've seen ads giving you a few options, but do you know how many there are?

There are many Cisco Data Center Certifications that exist. Each of them is crucial for a career in the data center field. This document will show you how to achieve four Cisco Data Center Certifications.

Cisco Data Center Certifications

One of the most sought-after certifications in the IT world, Cisco certifications are among the top-paying tech skills. With so many available, obtaining one can be daunting and confusing. So, how do you choose which Cisco Data Center certification to focus on?

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching certification

This entry-level credential validates the skills required to understand how to install, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks.

The CCNA curriculum focuses on foundational networking topics and skills, including managing IP data network infrastructure, configuring LAN switching technologies, understanding WAN technologies, and configuring Cisco Routers.

CCNA Routing and Switching are one of the most popular certifications from Cisco in the Data Center Industry. The CCNA Routing and Switching certification validates the skills required to understand how to install, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks.

The CCNA curriculum focuses on foundational networking topics and skills, including:

  • managing IP data network infrastructure;

  • configuring LAN switching technologies;

  • understanding WAN technologies;

  • implementing basic network security;

  • identifying basic network device management principles;

  • applying troubleshooting methodologies to resolve problems;

  • understanding how to implement a primary IPv6 network.

To become a data center administrator, you must take the DCICT exam. There are also other certifications that you can take if you want to move up in the world. You can get certificates that will help your career in other networking areas, such as routing and switching or security.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Data Center

This is the most popular Cisco Data Center Certification. It is necessary for anyone who wants to work with any type of Cisco switch or router.

The exam tests your knowledge about Layer 2 and Layer 3 virtualization technologies, including VLANs and SVIs, and routing protocols (RIPv2 and EIGRP).

In addition, the exam measures your skills in configuring IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols on routers and switches.

The exam also tests your understanding of multicast traffic forwarding and routing protocols (PIM).

Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA)

This certification validates the ability to meet customer requirements by designing complex enterprise networks.

The CCDA certification focuses on creating a successful network design, not just implementing features into an existing network.

The exam tests knowledge of data center technologies, including the Cisco Nexus 1000V Series Switches, Unified Computing System (UCS), and other products. The exam also tests your ability to use tools and techniques to design, build, and verify a virtualized data center infrastructure.

The CCDA certification requires a passing score of 750 on the two-exam sequence: DCDIA/DCDINF or VDCDIA/VDCDINF.

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)

This certification is for senior network engineers who specialize in architecting highly scalable internetworks for large service providers and enterprises.

The CCIE Data Center certification validates that an individual possesses expert-level skills in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex data center technologies.

CCIE Data Center certified individuals broadly understand how applications and services should be deployed and managed in the enterprise data center.

Cisco Data Center Infrastructure (DCI)

A comprehensive certification validates the knowledge and skills required to design, build, maintain and troubleshoot complex Cisco data center networks.

DCI validates the ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a converged infrastructure with virtualization technologies. The DCI certification family includes:

  • Cisco Data Center Networking (DNI) focuses on building and maintaining data center networks using physical and virtualized environments. DNI validates the ability to design, implement, operate, manage and troubleshoot converged infrastructure networks with virtualization technologies.

  • Cisco Data Center Routing & Switching (DCR&S) focuses on advanced network services for complex data centers. DCRS validates the ability to design, implement, operate and manage advanced data center network services using physical or virtualized environments.

Conclusion

The certification road isn't an easy one, and there's no guarantee that you'll succeed by just taking the first step. But if you have a plan in place, have a strong reason for achieving the certification, and don't give up too quickly, taking that first step can help lead to success.

To make the best technical training and certification resources available to you, the Cisco Certifications Program will continue its ongoing evolution to keep pace with advancing technologies.
